HANGAR RENOVATION - RAYTHEON AIRCRAFT SERVICE, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
The Challenge
A world leader in aviation services, Raytheon consolidated two hangars into one as part of an overall cost-savings initiative. The remaining 30,400-square-foot hangar was in need of renovation in order to meet increased operational demands of its corporate flight service.
The Solution
As part of its renovation program, Raytheon retained ICA to insulate its hangar at the San Antonio, Texas airport. The Energy Miser® system – featuring a bright white facing that is attached directly to the structural steel – was installed throughout the hangar. In addition to improving the overall appearance of the facility, the new insulation system will bring significant improvement in thermal performance and utility savings to Raytheon.
The Result
The renovation project resulted in clean and bright facility in which to operate Raytheon’s corporate aviation services. Facility employees have commented on the cooler climate that resulted from the new insulation – a noteworthy achievement given the hot Texas sun under which the hangar sits.
