The Challenge
Vision Pickling, headquartered in Waterman, specializes in pickling metal. Vision Pickling contacted ICA when they experienced condensation problems due to an un-insulated roof deck. In a pickling process the environment must be clean and dry at all times. Any moisture that could drip onto the steel would ruin the process. Vision Pickling spent numerous hours re-processing steel that became wet from condensation.
The Solution
ICA was retained to insulated the roof and walls of Vision Pickling’s 156,000 square foot building with the Energy Miser Insulation System. The system was installed below the structural steel and greatly reduced the cost to heat the building in the winter as well as drastically reduced the solar load from the roof. ICA also ventilated the cavity between the insulation system and the roof deck.
The Result
Vision Pickling has not only eliminated their condensation problems, they are now an energy efficient operation. Vision Pickling has also benefited from the greatly improved acoustics and sound absorption that the Energy Miser Insulation System provides.
