KOREAN TRADE & DISTRIBUTION CENTER, FLUSHING, NEW YORK
The Challenge
The Korean Trade & Distribution Center, a marketplace and import center for goods and products imported from Korea, sited its operations in a newly constructed, 140,000-square-foot facility in Queens. Among the challenges of this project was the fast-track schedule to install 164,000 square feet of insulation on a saw tooth roof in 10 weeks. ICA faced a monetary penalty for failure to meet the deadline.
The Solution
ICA installed the Energy Miser® system with a 5-inch insulation blanket. To meet the aggressive deadline, ICA operated crews around the clock for the duration of the project, while Korean Trade Center staff worked simultaneously to stock their merchandise.
The Result
The Korean Trade Center project was completed two weeks ahead of schedule, resulting in a significant cash bonus for the installation crew. The Energy Miser® system not only improved the energy efficiency of the expansive facility, but also enhanced the lighting. The enhanced lighting in turn offered the added benefit of improving the appearance of merchandise throughout the center.
